WEAPON PICK-UPS

Overview

Weapon Pick-ups are temporary power-ups that appear during Story and Endless Dungeon runs, providing players with limited-use special weapons. These items drop from defeated enemies or destroyed objects, offering strategic advantages and combat variety without permanently altering character loadouts.

Weapon Types

Temporary Guns

Replace your main ranged weapon with a special variant

Limited ammunition count (cannot be reloaded)

Unique visual appearance and effects

Return to main weapon when ammunition is depleted

Temporary Melee Weapons

Replace your main melee weapon with an upgraded version

Limited number of attacks

Enhanced visual effects during combat

Return to main melee weapon when uses are depleted

Acquisition & Duration

Drop Source: Enemies and destructible objects

Drop Chance: Configurable percentage chance

Ground Duration: Limited time before disappearing if not collected

Maximum Drops: Only one pick-up or vehicle can exist in the environment at any time

Availability: Can be collected by any allied player or AI companion

Usage Rules

Priority Order

When multiple special items are active, they are consumed in this order:

Vehicle

2.

Temporary Gun/Melee

3.

Main Gun/Melee

Compatibility

Boosts applied to main weapons do not transfer to temporary weapons

Temporary weapons come with their own preset boosts

Boosts activated while using temporary weapons will apply to main weapons upon return

Multiple pick-ups of the same type: Newer pick-ups override older ones

Different weapon types: New pick-up replaces current temporary weapon

Persistence

Pick-ups do not carry over between dungeon levels unless already activated

Effects persist through player death and revival

Summons continue to use main weapons regardless of player's temporary weapon

Visual Indicators

Ground Indicators

Floating weapon mesh appears at drop location

Visual effects indicate remaining collection time

Off-screen indicators point to pick-up locations

Active Indicators

Weapon model visibly changes to temporary weapon

HUD displays pick-up type icon and remaining uses

Health bar includes special "powered-up" visual effect

Melee weapons show surrounding VFX while enhanced

Strategic Considerations

Pick-ups provide opportunity for temporary playstyle changes

Limited ammunition/uses encourages strategic deployment

Team coordination to determine optimal pick-up allocation

Pick-ups can turn the tide in difficult encounters

Configurable Parameters

Game designers can adjust several parameters to balance pick-up mechanics:

Toggle availability by dungeon type, difficulty, or game mode

Adjust drop chance percentages

Set maximum simultaneous drops

Modify ground duration timers

Define weapon attributes and boost effects
